The 64-acre Zoo is located in a metropolitan area of 2.26 million people. Annual attendance is more than 1.5 million, making the zoo the top paid attraction in the region.

The nonprofit Zoo Foundation enhances community involvement with the zoo through member-based and individual giving support. Each year it contributes approximatley $5 million to help fund the zoo's critical work in conservation, education and animal welfare.
